Michael Borges Music: Reviews

Overflowing Cup (CD Review) There can be no doubt aboutthe Christian / worshipful message in this album as a whole but some surprises are in store nonetheless. The album takes the listener through various pieces of neo-classical style, some with definite Celtic overtones, such as “New Every Morning” & “Be Thou My Vision”.

Hymns are included here also, rendered with both male & female ably performed vocals. Contrast is found in the track “Cafe´ Gourmet” which is appealingly smooth/soft jazz in style. But perhaps the greatest surprise of all on this album is the quasi Brian Wilson/Beach Boys a cappella arrangement of another hymn, called “He Once For Me Did Bleed”. Tight harmonies such as these might have you reaching for your surfboard, albeit on a Sunday!

All in all, a sincere & pleasant album from Michael Borges that will no doubt be a welcome offering to those that take comfort from music with a religious theme, with some delightful violin melodies that show off Michael´s ability as a musician on his beloved violin. Overflowing Cup (CD Review) This music is calming to the soul, with excellent quality. The artist strives for perfection; their passion to serve God is heard in the music and beautiful lyrics sung by a gifted vocalist. I look forward to hearing more of Michael Borges' original songs. The ones I've heard are unforgetable, and extremely well done.

Good Tidings To Zion This track caused goose bumps and an awesome feeling of warmth flooded my entire being. Beautiful exquisite vocal performance by Bree Noble. The harmonies are simply beautiful. Michael’s orchestral arrangement of ‘Good Tidings to Zion’ from Handel’s Messiah exudes passion, intensity, and depth.

New Every Morning “When we needed to license a piece of music for our new DVD Creator software product, Michael could offer exactly what we were looking for, against a reasonable price for world-wide distribution. He not only composed the music himself, but also performs in it on violin and it sounds terrific on a DVD movie-theater system!”
